Bulwyr-Lytton "Literary" Prize Winners Announced

The Bulwyr-Lytton awards (named after the "dark and stormy night" author made famous by Snoopy) grant recognition to the worst opening sentences to a piece of fiction, an achievement that most of us strive for only unintentionally.  The winning entry was submitted by Professor Sue Fondrie of University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  Congrats, Sue, and may you wear your laurels proudly like a crown of thorns!

Dozens of disturbingly hilarious entries are spread across the web like a patient etherized upon a table at the 2011 Bulwyr-Lytton awards site .  One more for good luck, from the "Dishonorable Mention" list, by Basil McConnell of Vancouver, B.C.:
