Fresh appeal over teen's murder
Police investigating the murder of a 19-year-old man in Birmingham three years ago are making a fresh appeal for information.
Stephon Davidson was a passenger in a car on Ladywood Middleway on 5 August 2008 when he was shot in the neck.
He died in hospital from organ failure almost a month later on 2 September.
On Friday a community fun day, organised by the families of gun and knife crime victims including relatives of Mr Davidson, will be held.
It will take place at George Street Park, in Lozells.
The "In Memory Of…" event will begin at 12:00 BST and run until 21:00 BST.
Each friend and relative will wear a t-shirt with the name and photograph of their loved one on it.
Det Insp Buck Rogers, who is leading the investigation into Mr Davidson's death, said: "Three years have passed but we remain committed to establishing who fired the shots which ended such a young life.
"The inquiry remains open and I would encourage anyone who knows anything about what happened to come forward.
"I would reassure you that we can offer the full range of special measures to support witnesses."
Police have re-released a CCTV image of the gunman hanging out of the passenger window of a silver Toyota Avensis, registration number FE03 JXW, as they prepared to attack the car which Mr Davidson was sat in.
As well as information on the gunman, police are still keen to trace the Toyota.
Mr Rogers said the vehicle has been used in the Birmingham area and is also believed to have been in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
He added: "Three years have passed but our determination to catch Stephon's killer has not diminished - we need to find this man."
Anyone with information about the murder of Stephon Davidson is asked to contact West Midlands Police.
Information can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.

Mr. Rogers Windows Takes The Plunge For Special Olympics Virginia ...
This year, Mr. Rogers of Mr. Rogers Windows Foundation will be taking the plunge into the frigid waters off Virginia Beach with 3,000 or more brave souls. Every winter for the past 17 years a very “cool” fundraising event has been raising money for Special Olympics Virginia. The Polar Plunge Winter Festival puts the “fun” back in fundraising by daring one and all to take a dip in the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean to support Special Olympics Virginia. To date, the event has raised a cool .7 million for the organization.
You don’t have time to register for this year’s bone-chilling challenge, but you can watch Mr. Rogers “suit up” for the winter swim on Saturday, February 6. Even if you don’t want to catch a few waves yourself, you can cheer him on, make a donation , or take part in the many other festivities happening on the beach, from the lively Friday night party to ice carving and the gigantic sand sculpture.
Special Olympics Virginia is indeed a very special organization. They provide year-round programming in sports training and athletic competition specifically for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Serving almost 10,000 special athletes across seven regional offices and through 28 area programs, Special Olympics Virginia is also proudly part of a dynamic global movement, which is now in more than 180 countries and represents over three million athletes worldwide.
Using sport as a vehicle for social change, Special Olympics Virginia’s goal is to open hearts and change minds about persons with intellectual disabilities. Their mission is to provide their participants with exciting and competitive athletic opportunities that will enable them to develop and improve physical fitness and motor skills, as well as build self-confidence and promote a positive self-image. And thanks to the assistance of wonderful volunteers—20,000 in total—and the generous support of partners around the state, these special athletes do not have to pay in order to achieve their dreams.
Mr. Rogers Windows Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities to provide the resources they need to reach their full potential. By undertaking the causes of poverty, injustice, and material needs, the Foundation works to improve our human and planetary condition.
Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Mr. Rogers Windows is also donating for every window sold through April 2010 in support of the relief effort through the Red Cross.
