Some consider after-50 as "losing-steam" or sunset phase but I view it as the begining stage. It is the golden time [whether we are financially adequate or not] which we struggled for 50 years to get. This is the time when we can do the many things that we could not do when we were working for someone. Frankly, I find I do not have enough time to do all these. 1.) Not worry too much about money. Give the kids a deposit for them to buy a property and spend the rest of their inheritance. My only worry is, I still not yet die when my money all finished. Patrick’s comment/advice: Never put your head down. Feel proud of your achievements no matter what it maybe. At this age (old age) you do not need expensive long pants or dressing any more. I started to put on short pant and T-shirt, cap and sport shoes after 2003-at age 45. I traveled overseas/in the country wearing only short pant and T-shirt. I even do not wear a watch. Whenever I am in KL I will go to Chow Kit and buy 3 T-shirts for RM10.00. Made in USA! To me I reward myself by traveling. In short, in our slowing process, my greatest pleasure is to taste my food slowly, watch people pass by, write a book and yes, I want to travel to Tibet via the highest railway in the world. It is not expensive to go to Tibet except some fears that I may not get use to the high altitude air - where you have to breathe through oxygen tanks in the train. In Malaysia rent is cheap. Sell the house and rent and free up some spending money. Alternatively you can sell the big house and buy a smaller house and spend the difference. BUT be careful, don't let any of the China dolls know. They will flock to you like flies around sugar, I see lots of them flocking around old cashed up Ah Peks with their brains between their legs in Klang valley.
