Kids Block Party to take place Aug. 13
The Fifth Annual Kids Block Party will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 13 at the St. Charles Convention Center, 1 Convention Center Plaza.
This is a free indoor event which is open to the public. The event is geared towards healthy and active lifestyles for children ages 3-11.
Global Spectrum, managers of the center, is introducing Touch-a-Truck, where a variety of popular trucks and cars will be brought in for children to interact with during the event. Other activities will be provided by the St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department, America's Incredible Pizza Company, St. Louis Children's Hospital, St. Louis Science Center, River City Robots, Pretty Crafty Wax Hands, Flipside Gymnastics and First Class Child Care.

O'Fallon to host a safety day
The O'Fallon Police Department will host its annual Community-Oriented Public Safety Day (COPS) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 13 at the police department, 100 N. Main St.
There will be department tours and K-9 demonstrations. Equipment on display will range from the St. Louis Metropolitan Air Support helicopter to the Missouri Highway Patrol's seat belt safety crash simulator. Other items on display will include the fire department's Smoke House, St. Charles County Sheriff's Department Bomb and Arson display and SWAT team equipment.
There will be activities for children, which include a certified safety program, with goodie bags and O'Fallon Police Department certificate (for the first 400 children) for those who complete the required activities. Pony rides, face painting and an inflatable jump house will be available. Concessions will be available.

Mount Pleasant toasts man's best friend
Mount Pleasant Estates is hosting Dog Days of Summer, where customers can celebrate by bringing their dog, from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Mount Pleasant Estates is located at 5634 High St. in Augusta.
Every dog will receive a treat and the winery will host a variety of vendors to please dogs and their owners. The Yuppy Puppy Spa will be on hand with a water station for the dogs. There will be giveaways for the best dressed dog, the coolest tricks and more. The spa will also be selling organic treats and doggie wine called Sauvignon Bark. The Pet Doctor to the Rescue will bring a variety of animals for show and tell for the kids and offer dog adoptions, as well as a clinic and first aid station for the dogs. Veterinarians will be available for sessions of "ask the vet." The Five Acres Animal Shelter and the Phoenix Pack will both be on hand to offer dog adoptions.

7 Sessions was all it took to change my life. It didn't cost me a cent. The course is conducted by volunteers and it took only time and effort on my part to attend the sessions faithfully and my willingness to listen and open my heart to God. Of course, whenever you try to draw nearer to God, the wiley one starts stalking you and obstacles get thrown your way to sidetrack you.
