Custom cycling clothing buyer's guide + new online team stores

If you’ve ever coordinated a team’s clothing order, you know what a headache it can be when one person is responsible for all the details. Custom clothing companies know this, too, and a few have modernized the process with online team stores where riders can shop and order on their own, and then have custom kit shipped to their addresses.

Panache Cyclewear is the latest to offer team stores. Once a team has set up and account to order clothing and agreed on which types of items will be included, riders can log on to see jerseys, skinsuits, bib shorts in their team’s design, and then fill an online shopping cart just like on Amazon or any other online retailer.

“The whole idea of the team store is to make ordering your custom clothing easy,” said Andy Pemberton with Panache. “It’s a more efficient transaction for the team manager and for the team in general.”

Pactimo may have started the online team store concept.

“We were the first ones to offer that service three or four years ago,” said Pactimo’s Brandon Kibler. “We offered it to the biggest teams at first, then it trickled down to just about anybody. There are three different ways the team store works. One, team members can login and pay separately, and the whole order ships to a team manager. Two, we do individual sorting so it arrives at the manager’s address separated by rider name. And three, for premier customers, we do individual shipping.”

Custom cycling clothing is made around the world. Panache produces in Italy. Champion System — which boasts a huge catalog of custom pieces and no minimum orders — produces in China, as does Pactimo.

Kibler said Pactimo was founded by Christian missionary Jim Hesse, who was doing mission work in China when the idea came about to create Pactimo “based on the idea of improving Chinese workers’ lives.”

Other cycling clothing companies that offer online team stores for custom orders include Voler and Louis Garneau.

I manage two teams, the largest LIVESTRONG charity team and a racing team, we use Castelli, as it is without question the best of the best in custom gear.

Is It Crucial For Cyclists To Put On Custom Made ... - cycling jerseys

If you have decided to start cycling, whether it’s for fitness or fun, there will always be one question on your mind – should I wear custom cycling uniforms, standard cycling gear, or merely throw on any old shirt and shorts? This article will examine the probabilities and list the advantages of each type of cycling clothing.

When deciding what kind of cycling clothing to wear, one of the boo-boos people make is to classify themselves based totally on their physical characteristics. They put themselves into categories such as tall vs. Short, or fat vs . Thin. But the fact remains that a baggy shirt has the same negative result on your cycling whether it is worn by a person who is fat, thin, tall or short. Custom cycling clothing will benefit everybody no matter what their body size or shape.

The same thing applies for people that categorise themselves based on their intentions when taking up cycling. Whether or not you are an off-the-cuff cycling, a cycling fan, or intend to become a competitive cyclist, the cycling clothing you wear does have an impact. So regardless of whether you cycle competitively, for pleasure, or for fitness, you should generally consider wearing custom cycling uniforms.

Custom cycling uniforms are built to match the riders precise body shape, and therefore have many advantages over regular clothing, or any standard cycling gear found in the shops. Of course the standard cycling wear is preferred over regular garments, but threads fitted correctly, for example Seight Custom Cycling Wear, are worth their weight in gold.

Some of the advantages of selecting custom cycling uniforms over other cycling clothing include : The material and cycling top design permit excess moisture to disperse faster, which forestalls unsightly sweat patches so helping to stop dehydration. The cycling shorts and bib shorts are made to prevent bunching up and irritation while pedalling, as nothing can be worse than a rash in the wrong area. Swish fitting uniforms permit you to work your muscles in the right areas, instead of your energy being spent on the battle between your clothes and the wind. Stretchable fabrics and quality material sources with mean that you wont be wearing a garment which itches or feels tight, which is sadly the case with a lot of cheap cycling shirts on the market.

Considering all the information to hand the clothing query can be answered clearly – Yes, a new bicyclist should always wear custom cycling uniforms.
